Iowa Motor Vehicle Dealers
Motor Vehicle, Mobile Home, Manufactured home, and travel trailer dealers must all be licenesed with the Office of Vehicle Services in order to conduct business in the State of Iowa. Licenses are issued using a staggered system with 2, 4, and 6 year periods.
All applicants must have a physical location with a telephone installed and in the dealers name. Motor Vehicle dealers must have a repair and display facility as well as on-site inspection.
Dealer License Fees:
- $70 for 2 years
- $140 for 4 years
- $210 for 6 years
Iowa Dealer Surety Bond
The Department of Transportation requires a $50,000 motor vehicle bond, or Mobile/Manufactured home retailer bond. A $25,000 surety bond is required of travel trailer dealers.
