Kansas Motor Vehicle Dealers
Both new and used auto dealers must be licensed and issued dealer numbers. Any business or individual that sells over 5 vehicles in a calender year must be licensed. Manufacturers must also be licensed.
New vehicle dealers must have a franchise agreement and locations must be zoned for commercial use and inspected prior to issuance of their license.
Licenses must expire annually on December 31st.
Dealer License Fees:
- $200 for manufacturers
- $75 for dealers
Kansas Dealer Surety Bond
New and Used Auto Dealers are required to post a $30,000 surety bond.
- Bond: Motor Vehicle Dealer Bond
- Obligee: Department of Revenue - Division of Vehicles - Dealer License Bureau
- Obligee Address: PO Box 2369, Topeka, Kansas 66601
- Required Expiration Date of Dealer Bond: 3/31 of an Even Year
- Surety Bond: This bond is Not Continuous, it requires a Continuation Certificate
- Bond Form Revision Date: 4/2003
