There is a place called Florence, in northwest Alabama, where it feels like the mecca for vintage Porsches. It’s actually Trissl Sports Cars that specializes in featuring, selling and collecting rare Porsches.
The showroom opened less than a year ago, and it’s already become notorious for its extreme rarities.
Every week, the showroom features 35 to 45 Porsches. All seven generations of the famed German car can be seen there, ready to satisfy even the most picky collectors.
Some of the gems include three of the limited 395 Carreras built between 1974 and 1975. Also, do you remember how in Risky Business Tom Cruise put one car in the water? Well, Trissl Sports Cars has a version of it – a 928 GTS, last made in 1995.
One of the best finds for any collector is what even Porsche considers it to be its super car – it has a carbon fiber body and chassis. Horsepower? 620. Throughout Porsche’s history only 1,282 were made and Tissle owns No. 882.
Fascination with the German engineering genius will never die. If you are a Porsche buff or a big fan, take a look. You don’t really need to go to Florence. It’s all internet-driven, so you can conduct your business online.
