Types of Surety Bonds in Oklahoma

You can get any type of Oklahoma surety bond with us.

We underwrite all types of Oklahoma license and permit bonds, necessary for businesses that need to obtain a business license, and get bonded when doing so.

Oklahoma construction bonds are also available with us. These bonds are required of contractors when they commence work on a project, work with subcontractors, offer maintenance and more.

We also underwrite all types of Oklahoma court bonds, typically requested by Oklahoma courts of individuals in a number of cases - such as the appeal of a court decision or in the case of someone being appointed a fiduciary.

To find out more about each of these types of bonds, see the sections below!

Oklahoma License & Permit Bonds

License bonds are required of many businesses throughout the whole country. Which businesses need to obtain a bond depends on local laws, although some types of businesses are required to do so in every state. Bonding amounts for licensed businesses also vary from state to state.

Oklahoma requires a number of its businesses to get licensed and bonded before they can legally offer their services. License and permit bonds work as a guarantee that the business complies with all Oklahoma state regulations. In case of fraud on the side of a licensed business, the bond serves as a form of protection by offering financial compensation to claimants.

Two of our most popular bonds in the state are the Oklahoma auto dealer bond and freight broker bonds. We also regularly underwrite all other types of license bonds in the state.

For information about the cost of your bond, continue to the cost section below.

Oklahoma Construction bonds

construction bonds are required of licensed and bonded contractors in Oklahoma, whenever they wish to work on a construction project, or are asked to guarantee the quality of their workmanship. Most federal and state projects require these bonds, as do many private ones.

These bonds are meant to ensure that contractors will execute their work in a faithful and diligent manner, and in accordance with all contract conditions and state regulations. If the contractor fails to meet their obligations, construction bonds offer financial protection to project owners.

Oklahoma Court Bonds

We also underwrite all types of court bonds in Oklahoma. A court bond may be required of an individual who wants to appeal a court ruling made by a local court, or who is about to be appointed someone’s fiduciary or guardian.

Surety Bond Cost in Oklahoma

Surety bond cost is not fixed. It’s determined on a case-by-case basis by sureties who review our customers’ applications. The total amount of the bond is its penal sum, the amount of compensation it offers to obligees. The bond’s cost is the price of obtaining the bond, which is typically a small fraction of its total amount. This is called a premium.

Your premium is determined by sureties on the basis of a few criteria. Among these, your personal credit score is paramount but not the only determining factor. Other factors include:

  • Your personal financial statements
  • Your business financial statements
  • Your asset profile
  • Your work and industry experience

Applicants with an exemplary credit score get a rate on their bond that ranges between 1%-4% of its total amount, a so-called standard market rate.

Applicants who have a lower score– or who have no credit score at all– fall within a separate category, because sureties are often hesitant to issue bonds in such instances.

However, we regularly underwrite bonds for such applicants thanks to the reliability of our surety partners and their ability to offer tailored rates to all our customers.

That’s why we created our Bad Credit Surety Bond Program, which bad credit applicants can apply through and get approved almost as fast as all our other applicants. Rates under this program range between 5%-15% of the total amount and every quote is specifically sourced for each applicant.

Make a rough calculation of the cost of your Oklahoma surety bond by using our surety bond cost calculator on the right. If you’d like to get a precise quote instead, submit a surety bond application and we will contact you with your very own, entirely free quote.
